Otaki Japanese Steakhouse

This is a new establishment, only open for a few months. I have been in there several times and every time it has been good. Minutes from Baymeadows and much better than some of the places closer to home.

I have bithday party and i am so happy, fried vanalla icescream and druming along.. great.

The food was ok. It was a bit pricey in my opinion. I had an issue with a gift certificate for the restaurant that they refused to accept. Lets just say the way they handled it was definitely not customer service. The manager actually argued with us about the gift certificate in the middle of the dinning room in front of all the customers. She blamed everyone she could possibly think of. In my opinion she should have just honored it instead of making a scene in front of her patrons. There are just too many other good Japanese hibachi restaurants in Jacksonville to go to instead of this one.

Went there for a friend's birthday party. The food was fine, but the waitstaff had a chip on their shoulder (you know, those knowing smirks waiters at certain places have). We were rushed through dinner and, without being offered coffee or desert, the check was slammed down in front of each person halfway through dinner. The place was not packed by any means, but it felt like customers were interfering with their restaurant operation (I know, this makes no sense). If you want a friendly place, this is not it, but I have a general problem with restaurants that make you feel like you should be glad that they allow you to be there.

Opened less than a year ago and started out great, unfortunately it has been on the decline and is now working with a skeleton staff. It almost seems they are prepping to close. Soon Wasabi will open in the Town Center and no business will be heading their direction. Short staffed and inadequate portions for the price...
