Diversity Cafe - Hillsboro

Excellent new addition to our cozy little town of Forest Grove. Had breakfast this morning and highly recommend the country fried steak. Can tell it's handmade and really good gravy. Not a fan of the country potatoes as they were over cooked and quite mushy. I really like them crispy and hope they change that. But overall service was great and the place looks really clean and nice.

This review was a hard one. The food itself was great and it was for our wedding. We had a couple appetizers, entrees with the sides. My biggest problem was terrible communication and going back on a lot of things that were said. When we first met and did the tasting we booked them the day after, so about a year before the wedding so June of 2016. We were priced at an awesome price and told 15% gratuity, all plates, silver, napkins and water, lemonade and iced tea, food and homemade salad dressings would all be included. I was in awe of planning the wedding that I didn't realize there was no contract, I started to feel uneasy about it so about 6 months later I asked for one. They agreed to make one and was told two weeks, it took two months. There was things in it that I thought were important that weren't included like menu, drop off time for food, drop off day and time for containers and such, I asked for these things too and they didn't put it in. They also changed gratuity to 20%, told me no plates come with it and they would only bring us water...okay whatever, I'll deal with it, it was my fault I didn't do a contract. So closer to the wedding I was emailing for questions that weren't in the contract and wouldn't get answers for at least a week to two weeks at a time, week of had an extremely hard time contacting them, half the questions I asked they wouldn't answer in my emails. They were a half hour late to the venue to drop off food, my wedding started at 4:00 and they got there at 3:30 and it was all in the same place. And they didn't bring water so mid way into cocktail hour, we had to have someone run to the store to find water, which we weren't close to any where, we were in Vernonia. We also were told home made dressings and ended up with bottled stuff, which isn't a big deal, but don't say homemade is its not going to be. So just a lot of things promised that we didn't get, terrible communication and they were late. Not happy at all with it other than the taste of the food. Oh and in one of my emails I asked if we need to bring the hot containers back Sunday or if Monday was okay, they never answered that question but they answered the other question in the email so I had someone take it Monday and they were freaking out at my coordinator on Sunday because they didn't have it yet. So I personally wouldn't recommend them but hopefully as they are newer they will work on always having contracts, they need way better communication, and be on time as they do have very good food and could do well.

Food made from scratch. Entrees, sauces, everything. And it's delicious.

The mimosas are amazing! My wife and I had the Benedicts. I thought my classic Benedict was ok, but the hollandaise sauce was too runny for me. My wife's country Benedict was amazing. The gravy and biscuits tasted great. The potatoes hash was ok, but I prefer it with more crunch and less oil. Overall a great meal with good service and we look forward to coming back.

Awesome! The food was amazing and the service was very friendly and helpful. Love this place.
