However, during our visit on Christmas Day while heading north, we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely interior. The atmosphere was warm, clean, and welcoming, with Covid restrictions in place. We plan on making it a regular stop in the future. The service was prompt and excellent, and my bacon roll was absolutely delicious.
After reading on their website and calling ahead, we were under the impression that this restaurant allowed dogs, but unfortunately it did not. The staff were unfriendly, there were no draft beers available, and the ambience was lacking. We decided to sit outside for just one drink and do not plan on returning. The nearby competition, just a few hundred yards away, could certainly teach this place a thing or two!
We stopped in for breakfast and the food was tasty and the portions were generous. However, the girl who served us was very unfriendly. We felt like she was bothered when we asked for our tea with our breakfast. She barely spoke while serving us and seemed more focused on her phone. It's unfortunate because both my friends and I noticed her attitude. Despite this, we would still consider eating here again as the food was delicious and well-presented on the plate.
This is a cafe selling soup, sandwiches and meals with chips aimed at passing travellers. The food is made on the premises and is good and well presented. Service was very quick, staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable. The building itself is very...dated but the cafe area has been modernised and has comfortable sofas and a welcoming atmosphere. I've stopped here several times and will do so again
We stopped here for lunch and are glad we did. I had the soup-of-the-day (sweet potato and chili), which was delicious and came with a thick slice of white bread and butter. Two friends got the bacon rolls and absolutely loved them they were...huge and satisfied their big man appetites. The other friend got the roast beef sandwich, which looked really big to me, and she enjoyed it. I was told that the coffees (Americano and Cappuccino) were also very good. The service from the lady at the counter was great. The restaurant was open to sit and eat inside and had carefully spaced tables because of the COVID restrictions, but we chose to eat at the picnic table outside because of the sunny weather. We would definitely stop here again!
