The restaurant is nestled within an Indian grocery store, which was a lovely surprise. When I let the woman at the counter know that I was vegan, she quickly recommended dishes that contained no animal products. I decided to try the lunch special, which included four types of curry: pumpkin, chickpeas, and two portions of lentils since one of the curries contained ghee. It also came with a large piece of bread, rice, a crispy flatbread that I believe was made of rice, and a small container of spicy pickles, all for just $6! I was delighted to discover that each dish was flavorful and actually spicy (as someone of half-Thai heritage, I often struggle to convince Indian restaurants that I can handle heat). Although the curry portions were small (4 oz. each), I really appreciated the opportunity to taste several different flavors in one meal.
I have nothing negative to report; the Indian food here is solid and truly authentic!
I used to frequent Amma when it was located downtown. My mother often worries about me eating things that are too spicy, but I absolutely love it.
