Delicious vegan menu. Cosy. Good for date nights or a casual Friday night dinner if you don't give a [censored] and have some money burning a hole in your pocket.
My partner and I came to Helsinki shortly after dinner. What a great way to start our journey! Dinner is a Prix Fixe Multi-course fare. You only have to choose the meat or vegetarian version. They also offer vegans on request what I did (more on this later). They said it was a four-course menu, but really more than eight (I lost count! including all the Tidbits they served between the courses. Everything we had was delicious and beautiful. They even served two types of homemade bread, both of which were exceptional. Cooking was a little experimental with a focus on local and seasonal ingredients. My partner had the meat version and of course had more variety than mine. I thought the vegan version – usually designed with root vegetables, although perfectly prepared – would have used more variety. The staff was friendly and the service was warm and personal. I was impressed when the manager/owner asked after he had set us who was the vegan, which means he saw the note I had in my reservation. That was soothing. I do this every time I go to a veg-friendly restaurant to be safe, but I can count on a hand the number of times I was asked this question. We have a bit to chat with him and during our meal, because two other tables did not show and we ended the only customers there all the time that made for an intimate setting. The restaurant is compact. Seats maybe 20 persons max. But the clean, light, minimalist decor gives the room a feeling. In a truly local way, the water glasses are also recycled here from beer bottles, which bring them close to a workshop to cut and process the tops. We only paid shynesses of €100 without drinks, which was quite a lot, and had a fantastic time. All in all, I cannot recommend this place enough!
I'm so glad this place was listed on Happy Cow!! Otherwise we would never have found it; only 18 tables, Scandinavian restaurant with plants. They offered a vegan tasting menu, the dishes such as lemon Verbena Sorbet with celery root granita as intermezzo, roasted pumpkin with barley risotto as main dish, and dessert of root vegetable muesli with gooseberry sorbet. Everything was perfectly executed, beautiful wine pairs options, and the service was intimate, friendly and informed. We went early (5:30) and were able to chat a bit with one of the owners who did a lot of the portion themselves. Great place, it cannot recommend enough!!
