Maharaja - Helsinki

Honestly, I couldn’t figure out how they have such a high rating. The service is okay, but the portions are disappointing considering the price, specially when you compare it to other Indian restaurants in Helsinki. Also the ‘naan’ was sweet, and there weren’t enough pieces of chicken in the chicken curry.

Delicious food and amazing service! Might seem a bit expensive at first, but there are some really good slightly cheaper options in the dinner menu as well.

The service was very good fast and the workers were very friendly however I got horrible food poisoning after eating here and am still recovering after more than 24hrs with a fever and severe cramps as well. : I am a seasoned Indian food eater and it has never given me problems before in other restaurants I have tried it.

Had to try an Indian restaurant in every new city I visit and Maharaja was the winner based on online ratings. The restaurant did not disappoint. We chose not to dine in and do a take out instead. We ordered rice, dal tadka and vegetable curry to keep things simple. Waited in the restaurant while the order was prepared. They have a full fledged bar and a TV screen. Seemed like a nice restaurant to spend the evening enjoying good food drinks. The ambience of the restaurant was great and it was not a busy evening. The order was ready in under 15 minutes. The food was well packed and they added papads and raitha to the order. The food tasted authentic. Pricing was moderate and the location is right opposite to the tram station. Will definitely try Maharaja again when I visit Helsinki.
