China is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Helsinki. It is visited by many Chinese groups which is a good sign, I pressume. The food is nice and you even get dim sum here. I would call the cuisine mostly Cantonese even thought you do get some Sichuan dishes as well.
The China Restaurant in Kamppi is one of the decent middle of the pack experiences that one can find anywhere there is a selection of Chinese establishments not the best but not the worst. If you 're in the market for a 'feed ' on a Friday or Saturday night and don 't expect mind blowing cuisine, or just want a quick buffet lunch before getting back to work, this place will suffice. We had the Singapore Noodles, the cantonese style BBQ pork, deep fried prawns and curry chicken. The noodles, chicken and pork were very good, with the curry chicken being the absolute favourite. The deep fried prawns had a great deal of batter on them (as in dagwood dog amounts of batter) and we ended up peeling them to get the prawns out. The only off note was that the sweet and sour sauce that came with the fried mixed entree tasted fizzy and a little bit past its prime. Other than that, the food was quite acceptable.
I was surprised by the quality of the food in the buffet, Everything was tasty, and the prices are not bad for Helsinki. I think I will go again.
A very good Chinese restaurant. The menu is different from most of Chinese restaurants in Scandinavia. The menu is genuine Chinese and superb. (It is like being back in Beijing again). Good service.
