Encasa - Haymarket

I think the food is here is very nice as Spanish food go - the only reason I didn't rate it higher is because this was my first time trying Spanish in earnest and what I had (paella) didn't entirely agree with me. It was tasty but somehow it felt like the ingredients weren't blending in and personally I didn't really appreciate their combination. The service was nice but due to our relative ignorance of the cuisine we ended up ordering a liquor that tasted like some sour syrup and we also ordered too much. But the spanish sausages tasted great.

Very busy even for a weeknight dinner, lucky I made a booking. The place has a rustic & cheerful feel, you get the sense it'll be a good night with great food being washed down with some sangria. Between two of us, we got their red sangria & 3 plates to share, plus some churros for dessert. It was more then enough for us. All the food were delicious, with punchy flavours. The grilled baby octopus is nicely charred with great texture, the twice cooked pork ribs with hand cut chips were soft, juicy & full of flavour, the chips were amazing with the sauce. Even the mushrooms were oozing with garlic flavour and deliciousness. The churros were thin ones, so not the fluffiness you expect, but it does have a spring in the dough & went very well with the choc orange sauce. One of the bigger night out in ages!

Good for big groups. Food was very fresh and there was plenty. Decor a bit lacking which rendered the atmosphere a bit flat. All in all a good night though.

Food portions are extremely small for a hefty price. Prawns are not fresh and the eggs are average. Service is good but I will not come again.

Really like the tapas and seafood rice there. And also the sangria smells and tastes very good. Quite Spanish! But you need to arrive on time, it's very popular in weekend. I've been there twice, once was Saturday, I arrived 30mins late, the manager was very angry... but I like the food anyway.
