The quality of the meats is excellent, featuring various cuts of Wagyu, and it’s an all-you-can-eat option, too. There’s a diverse menu with choices like seaweed salad, sashimi, sushi, tempura, and more. The restaurant is clean and well-ventilated, so I didn’t leave smelling like BBQ, which is often the case at similar places. You can opt for the $58 menu, which is perfect for first-time visitors, or the $88 menu for a few extra Wagyu selections. They also have a wide range of sake available, served warm or cold. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return!
I discovered this hidden gem through my girlfriend (as usual). To be honest, I initially expected it to be just another run-of-the-mill BBQ place, but as soon as the staff brought out the coal grill alongside a stunning plate of wagyu beef, we knew we were in for something special. The rich flavor of the char-grilled meat was absolutely heavenly! At just $58 per person, it was one of the best deals I've ever encountered. We were also pleasantly surprised by the freshness and deliciousness of other dishes, like the sashimi and tempura. On one occasion, our order was a bit late, but the service was perfectly fine during our other visits, so it seemed to be just an isolated incident. Overall, I give this place a solid 5 out of 5. It’s a must-visit for BBQ lovers and food enthusiasts!
We arrived with a group of seven just before the kitchen closed, and the staff were more than willing to accommodate us. They even adjusted our order to fit our odd number of diners. The experience felt genuinely authentic to Japan, despite the staff speaking Mandarin in the kitchen. The bull tongue, takoyaki, and sashimi platter were all incredibly delicious.
This is absolutely my new go-to Japanese restaurant in Hawthorn. First time was phenomenal, we booked AYCE Japanese BBQ for two, ended up with the whole second floor (yay! and our own waitress. Our waitress was the best I have ever met, she explained everything carefully and checked on us frequently. Wagyu beef was SO DAMN GOOD, and they definitely didn’t skim on the side dishes. We ordered sashimi twice, very happy with what we paid for. Two hours were enough to get full from all the delish food.<br/ <br/ Naturally we went back for lunch. Ordered chicken nanban teishoku and tempura teishoku. Everything tastes right (stressing this because apparently some restaurants don’t know how certain food are supposed to taste like *coughSamuraicough* and so delicious. Extremely good value for lunch. I’m so happy we found Izakaya Jiro :
The food is great, the service is lovely . I think they need to get one more staff to help. The place is chaos and noisy maybe that’s the downside of the place. No one clean the table need to be more organised.
