Oishi Hibachi Sushi - Hattiesburg

I stopped in here as I was passing through Hattiesburg. This place was a delight from the moment I stepped inside. They are all practicing safe distancing and proper 'Rona protocol. I was seated quickly although there was a brief wait, they were very impressive the way they were rotating their guests in and out. I ordered a lunch box with shrimp and a spicy tuna roll. Everything was really good. This is another example of where half stars are needed. This place is a solid4.5... Solid! Most people don 't realize it 's very rare for a true 5 star place. This place is very close. All the staff were very friendly.. I will make my way back to this jewel in Hattiesburg.

I went to celebrate a birthday with friends and the food was excellent! I ordered a raspberry martini, while my friend had the sour apple martini, and both were fantastic! The staff were very accommodating regarding my meal, as I don’t eat onions or mushrooms.

Then, inexplicably, they added an automatic 18% gratuity to our bill. We were a party of five. I usually tip around 25%. If the service is poor, I might drop it to about 15%, but if the service is excellent, I could tip even more than 25%. The service here was average—not great, but not terrible either. I would have tipped my usual 25%, but the automatic gratuity for a table of five felt unnecessary, especially considering the quality of the food. It was just frustrating!

This is likely the best hibachi restaurant I've visited in the Hattiesburg area. From the outside, it appears to be just another ordinary restaurant, but inside, it is very well maintained. The hibachi tables were clean and tidy before the cooking began, and the chef was incredibly friendly. The highlight, of course, was the food; the portions were generous, and the quality surpassed any hibachi experience I've had before. There was so much food that nearly everyone needed to take some home in a to-go box. I ordered the chicken hibachi, which I highly recommend. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, and all the staff I interacted with were kind and welcoming.

Outstanding service with a friendly staff! The food is fresh and delicious. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained. What more could you ask for?
