On a Friday night I decided that my wife and I would go and try Unico because we needed a change from the restaurants on Hartsdale Ave. We went in and were asked if we had a reservation (we didn't) but were offered at the bar. The place was fully booked and there were literally four people, the dinner service. The host also acted as a server and bartender and she did an amazing job and was extremely efficient. My wife tried her pineapple margarita and called her the best margarita she had and announced she could drink ten of them. We started with the muscles and octopus empanadas. The muscles were huge, plump and had great taste, but no bread or strength was given. The octopus empanadas were unique and tasty, but could have used a sauce. For our net I got the cod ravioli and they were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My wife got the steak frites with peppermint and she loved it. For dessert we got the deconstructed almond cheesecake and it was one of the best cheesecakes, not one of the best desserts we ever had. We loved the place so much we went back the other night with my parents, but this time we had a reservation. We had the muscles again, but this time a lot of bread was given. We also got the garlic shrimp that had a garlic stamp despite them, but the portion size was a little small. For our main we have the duck, mahi, ribs and steak frits. Everyone loved his dishes and ate everything. For dessert we got the cheese cake again and we also tried the bread pudding. The pudding was also delicious and unique with its use of IPA beer and caramel sauce. Unico has great service, great food and has a unique menu that uses fresh ingredients. My only torment is that pricing is fair, but seems strange for something outside of Central Ave. Don't let the blinds scare you, give Unico a try
One of the best restaurants in Westchester! Fantastic cocktails, apps, nets and desserts. Better food then the Inn at Pound Ridge. Unico is a perfect casual restaurant with first-class food.
Unico was a unique experience. All Unico, the concept, the design, the menu and the cooking itself has the thoughts and follow through the boss/owner Brian Sernatinger on or in it. Until yesterday I had no idea what that meant. Above all, don't leave the branch in front, outside lunch... there's incredibly delicious food in it. The staff is hard working, friendly and caring. The drinks were on site. The duck wings, ribs and Cochhinita PIBIL are a very special pig shell) we are all remarkable. Oh, yes, remember to save space for dessert.
We came here the day after Valentine's Day, so it was quiet. We loved the atmosphere, but more importantly, the food was fantastic. I could eat 12 of these octopus empanadas. My wild boar Ragu was in the square, and my wife's steak frites were perfectly cooked. Drinks were also very good. We are very happy to enjoy this neighborhood lottery again very soon!
We always enjoy this gem! Everything is so fresh and we love that the menu changes. The staff is friendly and professional and the restaurant is spotless! Don’t forget to try the craft cocktails! Below is the Mahi main dish and the Bucheron appetizer.
