El Pollo Guapo - Hartford

So tasty. Thought it was chilly and empty for dinner, we had a great meal. No frills, just fantastic food and pretty good music. Beer on tap, bowls and tacos full of things like mushrooms, crispy Brussels, toasted chick peas, plantains, sauteed mushrooms, avocado, pickled onion, etc. everything very well seasoned and delicious. Large portions.

Good lunch spot downtown. Get the apple empanadas! To die for. The chicken is moist and tasty. Tacos were really delicious. But the empanadas trust me on this.

Had the “Dazed and Confused” bowl (hold the fresco queso). Wow! Was I impressed! Super tasty. The only down side I can see to eating here is you’ll stand there for ten minutes like I did reading their menu trying to decide between all the delicious sounding options. After my first visit, I get the feeling you won’t go wrong no matter what you order here. Staff was friendly, service was fast, and the restaurant was clean and well laid out.

Their food is so.darn.good. I introduced El Pollo Guapo to my parents and now they're hooked too. The flavor combinations are always on point, everything is fresh, chicken is tender and flavorful (not remotely dry). My fave is the Dazed and Confused rice bowl..yummm!

Excellent concept and menu. I am a chef and rarely crave restaurant dishes but this place has a salad of which I cannot get enough. Great chips, excellent burritos and tacos. Innovative food and great staff. Always immaculate and nice outdoor dining space.
