Peel Ale House - HALLS HEAD

Our local which we attend nearly every week.. Never had a bad meal. Try the steak night.. good value for money. Highly recommended to families as well.

Went withy sister for lunch today at the Ale House. Ordered pumpkin salad which came with way too much Fetta making the whole salad much too salty. Way too much dressing. The whole thing was $18 for salad. So expensive. I barely ate any of it. My sister had a chicken type salad. Way too much fetta and salad dressing again. Both meals ruined. Where offered a free drink by the manager. My sister declined. I asked for a coffee and cake, which I recieved at no cost. Couldnt drink the coffee, absolutely disgusting. The cake melted in my car before I got home. Will not be eating there again.

Lunch on Friday 15th April - what a disaster!! Both my husband and I ordered Steak @ $25 each.  Pete's came out as ordered medium. Mine on the other hand whilst ordered rare came out well done. Steak was sent back and another arrived 10 minutes later also well done!! Cancelled the order and we were leaving, waitress said the wrong steak had been sent to our table. No kidding - 3 times! Very disappointing and no offer of a refund or complimentary drink. Won't be back.

The look of this place is great. They have a lovely indoor/outdoor area with a closed in play ground and the inside dining area looks magnificent. I do warn: DO NOT sit outside if you don't like noisy kids. This place has really set their target audience to families. I've dined here 3 times before and the food varies far too much for my liking. First time I went there I ordered the pumpkin risotto which tasted lovely (but a bit cheesy) however, I found a button in it... Gross. Second time I went was just a few days ago and I thought I would get the risotto again because it tasted nice last time. Nope. It was presented nicely but it was flavourless and cold. Very bland. I really didn't enjoy it. I plan to never get the risotto again. The third time I went was the following day (2 separate birthdays) when I ordered the veg pizza. I've had the pizza before years ago and it was boring and unfulfilling. This time it was delicious. One of the best pub pizzas I've ever eaten. The service is pretty average. If you have a table of more than about 4 people expect your food to go cold waiting for everyone's food to come out. We went on a Friday night and it took about an hour for our food to start coming out and then another 30 minutes for everyone to get their plates. Granted we were a big table of 15 but still. We weren't seated that far from the kitchen...
