I came there at 5:30, but although the place was completely empty, I was still on bar to cool my heels. Good step because I had to taste the wines I wanted with dinner. BTW, the Whites are saved In a refrigerator and reading are not cooled at all. Oh, good. The selection is decent, but not great. The prices are correct. Whatever you're coming for dinner. The cook had just switched to the summer menu, so most of it was new. Something that wasn't new was the Fritters. This is a clip on the menu and it is worth it. The red pepper jam was delicious, but not as hot as I like. Their frits were crispy and yet creamy on the inside. Don't forget the candied paprika. Next I tried the house soup that was a beef stew this night. This was another takeover of the classic...width and mushrooms accompanies the delicate beef bite. I would have preferred more beef and less potatoes. I had my eye on the angry Haddock and Risotto. I wasn't disappointed. The fish was fluffy and full of taste (even if I had loved more blackness). The salsa was amazing, the Risotto was cremy and edible. I finished a quality meal with a bowl of cinnamon ice cream and Kahlua... what a combination! Service was fast and accommodating. The atmosphere was calm and refined. Make sure to take a walk around Halifax (it will not last long) and read the copies of our Constitution and Declaration of Independence in the historical courthouse. This doesn't take long and can give you a new appreciation of what they really say. About 5 miles east from exit 171 to I95. It's worth it. Enjoy!
Really great hidden gem in the historic Halifax. This is the place for local farm to table. Collard greens and grits meets the point. Definitely you have to pour the shrimps. Worth the trip.
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner and drinks here. Everything was incredible and we can?t wait to come back with some friends. The restaurant is a little out of the way in beautiful historic Halifax but it is definitely worth it.
Honestly, I can?t complain about a single thing. Our night was amazing, without a doubt. The food was phenomenal, you pay for good quality without a doubt. It was delicious. Started off with the pimento cheese bites, they were amazing. Cooked perfectly and plated beautifully with an amazing jelly-like sauce to eat them with. I had the smoked salmon, which came with broccoli, carrots, and the BEST mashed potatoes (cauliflower mashed potatoes I have ever had. I want the recipe for myself! However, I?m not sure I could do such an amazing job like the chef did tonight. He came out and greeted each table with their meals and was so so attentive and amazing, you can tell he has such a passion for his food and his craft. Honestly, I can?t write enough about our experience. I will never forget it. Make a reservation, show up, and have an amazing time with amazing people surrounded by beautiful decor, and most importantly, eat amazing food. The cinnamon ice cream was to LIVE FOR (too good to die! as well as the flourless chocolate cake. Everything was phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal! AND, not just speaking for myself, my boyfriend also loved his Ribeye, it was cooked perfectly! Thanks for an awesome dinner!
Charming restaurant in a charming area. The food was delicious and affordable. On the picture are the roasted bologna sandwich and mac n' cheese. I recommend The Hen The Hog.
