As a Peruvian who knows how to prepare traditional dishes, I thought Sardi's would make it easier for me to enjoy home-style meals, albeit at a higher price. I ordered a half chicken meal, a quarter chicken meal, and six empanadas, and it was a disappointment! The empanadas were clearly frozen and just tossed into the deep fryer; I actually saw them pull them out of a bag. Unlike real Peruvian empanadas, which should have a variety of fillings, these were just filled with meat—no potatoes, peas, or olives. The chicken was very dry and unappealing, and my husband’s mote was topped with sugar, which is not how it's supposed to be prepared! In the end, I spent $30 on sad-looking, poorly tasting food, and I'm left feeling frustrated and cheated.
