There was quite a step down from the bath so maybe guests of a certain age should just take care when getting out. Great selection of teas and coffees in the room. Overall the room offers great value for money and superb facilities. Downstairs the bar has a good selection of spirits and beers and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I've taken off one star for the music from nextdoor. It feels harsh since it's not the owners fault but Harry's Bar is really loud. Luckily I sleep with ear plugs anyway but if you're a light sleeper you may struggle with that on a Saturday night. If you're thinking of staying here just bear that in mind, maybe check what days/times Harry's is open until, and bring some ear plugs just in case. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.
We booked 2 nights as visiting family in the area. A lovely girl took us to our room. The smell of drains hit as soon as we walked in. No bedside tables, no lamps, light in bathroom too dark, towel rail fell off wall when we hung towel. The bed was comfortable and looked clean apart from a couple of hairs. I was going to ask for some bleach to be put down the drains but we actually checked out after one night as were offered a bed elsewhere. When I went to tell them we were checking out early they didn’t ask why or if everything was ok. Staff apart from first girl seemed disinterested generally.
Very nice atmosphere. Bar decor very well done. Appears as though it may have been up-fitted recently. The staff was fun and helpful. Steak pie was very tasty.
We were given a tiny room with no bedside cupboards nor wardrobe. Hopefully one can see the layout in the attached pics. Barely enough space to climb into and out of the bed. We listened unwillingly to the full commentary of a football match on a neighbouring room's TV in the evening and a child overhead early in the morning who ran back and forth on the wooden floor . The water in the WC and the basin made an enormous racket as if one turned in a very noisy pump upon each use. Not a happy thing for my partner nor the nearby rooms during the night. Getting up and down the stairs to the room with a heavy bag was a bit of a struggle too. No breakfast available .
We visited for a late lunch, family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) and a small dog. This is one of the only places around that you can get pub food, with the kids and a dog indoors so we were limited however…pleasantly surprised. We all ordered adult meals, fish chips, 2 big breakfasts and hunters chicken, the food was hot, tasty and plenty of it. All food and drink was reasonably priced and what I would expect to pay when eating out with the family. We were mainly served by a young lady who was friendly, welcoming, polite and always had a smile. She checked back on the food mid meal and cleared our plates away after we had eaten. I wouldn’t let the bad reviews put you off, I enjoyed our visit to this place and if returning to Guisborough would definitely eat here again.
