My wife had a seafood platter and was overwhelmed with the amount of food. Oysters, shrimp, filet of fish, crabmeat balls and a stuffed crab. Had to have a doggie bag, because it was just sooo much good food. Jaque, the owner, was extremely nice, like coming to friends. Then we came back the next day and were greated like family. I had the crawfish etouffee which was amazing. My wife had shrimp po boy, also very good. This is no fried shrimp po boy, but cajun shrimp, so it is different to what most people are used to. Even the chef came out of his kitchen to ask if everything was all right. We can only recommend this place for authentic Louisiana cooking.
I wanted to love this place bc it's so close to my grandmother's and mom apparently went to school with the owner. But it was really kinda meh. The service and hush puppies were great. And their portions are a good value. But I was underwhelmed by my crawfish- tasted only like liquid boil, no other flavor. And my grandmother's redfish was not only not blackened as described, but the crabmeat topping it was awful. It was like the cook just dumped it out of the tub from the grocery straight on top of the fish without seasoning it or heating it in the pan. And the longer it sat on the table, the smellier it got. My mom enjoyed her catfish. But I think if I ever went back, I'd probably stick to a poboy.
I wanted to try something new but was disappointed when I received my food. $20 for 4 thin strips of fish, 6 shrimp and an over cooked sweet potato. The quality of the food wasn't worth the price!
It is a very nice local seafood restaurant in Gretna, LA. The service was excellent. Barbara Ann, our waitress that evening, was so helpful and friendly. She recommended that I should try the fried catfish. It turned out that was the best fried catfish I have ever eaten. It was so crunchy and not greasy at all and the taste was heavenly. A week later, I am still thinking about the place. Unfortunately, I am back home in California now. Someday, if I ever have a chance to visit New Orleans again, I certainly will stop by at De-No again.
Will become a regular customer. Service was very attentive. Portions were plentiful and delicious. Interior is clean and well designed. If you live anywhere near Grenta, come here now.
