Tannery Downtown - Greeneville

Small, simple, no Frills local sandwich shop. Staff are not excessively friendly and you 're on your own to find out how the line goes or how to order. But I learned that local shops work in small cities. No time or patience for the newcomer. Anyway, I had the great chicken salad sandwich. It comes with Mayo, this is too much Mayo if I can say that in the south. I love Mayo very much and can't be too much on a mater cream, but Mayo on a chicken salad sandwich is a bit much. I'm digressing. The chicken salad had a nice taste, nothing imagination or ingenious. The sandwich was nice with the spits. I love sprouts on a sandwich. The melted cheese was also a nice touch. All in all, I enjoyed the sandwich. I went back a few days later for another sandwich, but went with something that had ham, roast beef, cheese and sprouts on sourdough. It was also delicious.

That was my first visit and I'm glad I tried this café. I chose the special one. It came with a sandwich, salad and soup. I chose the chili instead of the soup available on Wednesday. The portions were right and the sandwich was very tasteful. I was happy and planned my return. If you don't have it, try this place. They won't be disappointed.

Every town and small city has a place like The Tannery, and thank goodness for that. When the locals flock to a place, others should follow... Donna has been making these tasty deli-style sandwiches for a good long while now, and they're as tasty now as the day the place opened its doors. Long a favorite of locals prowling around the downtown area, it is a place that you should try if you're in the area; you won't regret it!
