Mediterranean places are normally my favorite places to get food from but I wouldn’t recommend this place. Maybe it was an off night for them, or maybe we ordered all the wrong things but it was rather disappointing. The hummus was bland, the fried could have both used more time in the fryer and actually have some salt on them. It was also really weird that it came with an entire bag of pita in the original bag, like cool, always a fan for lots of pita but 6 pieces to go with not great hummus now means I have half a pack of pita and nothing to use it with… What they called sandwiches were wraps, the garlic paste which might have been great was all clumped in one area making that bite nearly inedible, and the shawarma just tasted wrong. Overall it was a fairly expensive meal for two people with not great food that made me think I was going to be sick.
I had been excited to try this place, but was bitterly disappointed in just about everything. I don't think I've ever left a review before now...The beef shawarma and grilled shish tawook sandwiches were underwhelming entree's served on cheap, thin tortilla instead of lavash or pita bread. Both were meat heavy and lacked accompanying flavor from veggies/sauces. The shawarma was heavy on the turnip (and few other veggies) and had a runny pink juice spilling out (presumably tahini) while the tawook was almost entirely meat with a weird garlic paste that we mistook for feta cheese at the very bottom of the wrap. The chicken at least was well seasoned and tasted good.We ordered fries and a regular hummus as well. The fries were undercooked but otherwise fine. The hummus was room temperature and a bit bland... but that may have been largely because they handed us a package of pita that was clearly bought from the grocery store (Skally's old world bakery). They didn't even bother to take it out of the original packaging, heat it up, and put it in a separate container. On the plus side, I now have lots of leftover pita and hummus and we did finish (most) of the food.
I ate a superbly delicious meal earlier today 8-26-2022 at Mr. Hummus Grill and Pizza at 1333 Northwest Blvd. in the Fifth by Northwest neighborhood of Columbus.I have eaten a lot of Middle Eastern food over the years; the food at Mr. Hummus Grill and Pizza is particularly high-quality and is definitely worth a repeat visit. My food choices earlier today had been (1. Beef Shawarma authentic-style sliced beef seasoned to perfection with tomatoes, onions, pickles, and turnips; dressed with tahini sauce ; and (2. a regular fries. The vegetables that had been used on my Beef Shawarma particularly the purple turnips that had been cut into strips had greatly added to the flavor of that sandwich; the regular fries had been anything but regular because they had been so absolutely delicious.Mr. Hummus Grill and Pizza is located in one of those several oddly-shaped buildings near Northwest Blvd. that have been designed so that they will fit most appropriately into a triangle-shaped property. For that reason, the dining room is perhaps fifteen feet wide at the south end but only four feet wide at the north end.If you are in the Fifth by Northwest neighborhood of Columbus and are looking for some delicious Middle Eastern food, I strongly recommend Mr. Hummus Grill and Pizza.
So good fresh great service. Get the hot sauce it’s incredible.
