All food items here are vegan, and the current menu includes cakes, scones and baked rice cakes. For drinks, there's a choice of dairy, soy, almond and oat milk (500 KRW surcharge for plant milks). They say that they refrain from using white flour, refined sugar, artificial colors and preservatives. Instead, they use natural and non-GMO ingredients, e.g. unrefined sugar, whole-grain flour and Korean rice flour. The description sounds healthy, but the taste of bakery items is nontheless sweet and like proper dessert! There are some curious items with typical Korean flavorings, such as sweet pumpkin cake and scones with perilla leaves Also their scones are different from other places: They are flat and look like giant cookies! Prices range between 3000 KRW for scones and up to 8000 KRW for cake. The scones are large, whereas a piece of cake is rather small. The cafe is located in an area with many other cafes and a park. The interior is simple and bright. Since the store front is a large window, it can get a little cold in the winter. They bake everything on location in the morning and open the cafe at noon. Overall, I enjoyed their unconventional, home-made desserts and the clean and bright atmosphere. #Veganuary
This is a great area to meet. Across from park. Cafe has good seating. Baked goods are interesting and done well. Had a tea because already had too many coffees. One of few places that knows how to make hot milk tea. Choice of oat, soy or almond milk Updated from previous review on 2021-11-12
Omuomu offers a selection of 5-7 vegan pastries, a few cakes, and 2-3 scones. We were served by a friendly server who took our order promptly. The café defaults to using cow's milk, which is not clearly indicated on the menu. They do offer three plant milk options, for which they have received an award. However, this information is not easily visible on the menu. We discovered this after questioning why there was a vegan latte option. The drinks we ordered were not very good. The price for a coffee or tea is around 5500 yen, and the serving size is approximately 200ml. I ordered a matcha latte with soy milk, but the powder was not mixed properly and left large clumps in the drink. The interior of the café is beautiful and spacious, with some tables and large windows. It may be a suitable place to work, but the atmosphere is undermined by the disappointing drinks.
There is no indication that cow's milk is the default option, but we decided to inquire about alternatives. We were shocked to find out that there is a 500 won charge for alternative milk at a supposedly vegan café. The drink I ordered was small, expensive, and had curdled soy milk in it, which was not very appetizing. However, the coffee itself was good and strong. Unfortunately, my friend's drink was poorly mixed and also had a strange flavor. Overall, I'm not sure if I would return to try their cakes or other items.
