Tommy Ruff - Glen Eira

We do love the fish n chips atTommy Ruffs, and my husband loves the fish wings. This trip I had fish with Salsa verde, a large serve with chips and salad. The fish was excellent. I have had the chowder before which is a tasty treat. We tend to go early of a Friday when lots of families are there, so it can be quite noisy. If you want easy conversation I'd suggest going after 7pm. Staff are attentive and service is good.

I'm a regular at Tommy Ruff and I'm rarely disappointed. The flake melts in your mouth. The chip servings are generous. When ordering pickup their estimate for the time your food is ready is very good (in fact the food is generally ready inside their estimate).

They found a table outdoors for us quickly. Order taken within minutes. Been arrived immediately. Food came promptly. Nicely cooked flathead tails with Greek salad and their speciality the pickled onions - not to be missed.

We pre-purchased 2 dinner vouchers but the owner (Max) allowed us to use only one and we had to pay full price for 2 additional person's meals inorder to get a booking.The service was slow eventhough there were only 3 tables occupied. 25 minutes after ordering the pizzas we were told that they ran out of pizza bases and we'll have to have the pizzas on a gluten-free base. None of us are gluten intolerant and the pizzas tasted awful. The rest of the food was just OK, and during dinner we had to listen to the owner talking about how he loses money on the vouchers and people only buying them to get a cheap meal and how he cannot make any money. Don't go near this place.

A great place to dine, or to get take-a-away. The choice of sea food is good and whether grilled or conventional deep fried the result is excellent. The staff are helpful and very friendly. Booking is essential, especially at the end of the week as this restaurant is extremely popular- a credit to the owners and the staff. Allow plenty of time for take-a-away orders again because of their popularity but always well worth the wait. For fish, seafood and chips this restaurant is first class. A real 'catch' for fish and chip lovers.
