Comodo Chinese Restaurant - Gimli

We usually enjoy the buffet here but due to Covid.... Having said that we ordered off menu a meal for 3 plus a stir fry veg side and were greeted by an abundance of tasty food. The WonTon soup was a little weak unfortunately but...the rest was quite decent. We filled ourselves and actually had enough left over for a picnic supper the following evening at Hecla !! Staff were Covid cautious more then some others in town. We will likely be back on our next visit to town.

We were impressed by the selection of combos, as many foods were offered for a very good price. the food was well cooked and tasteful. it was a decent amount of food. the facility in the restaurant is also beautiful and. the service was good. the only thing I didn't care about in the restaurant was that the benches were sagging and super unpleasant to sit.

After a day at the beach we were pretty hungry and had popped into this restaurant earlier in the day to check out the lunch buffet. We didn't eat there for lunch, instead opted to go back for dinner.When we came in the lights were low and there were a few staff at the door, they said they were closing and the buffet was closed, but if we wanted to order from the menu that would be ok. So we were seated in a booth by the window (we had the place to ourselves). We ordered steamed rice, chicken chop suey and the sweet and sour pork, and a bottle of wine.Well, having the place to ourselves was a real treat, very romantic, we kept the wine flowing. The dishes arrived quickly and were the right size! Finally a place that makes a dish that isn't oversized. The chicken chop suey was the best we have had, the ingredients were very fresh and cooked perfectly, lots of chicken as well. The sweet and sour pork was perfect. When I first saw it I could tell it was going to be good because it was lightly battered, the sauce looked a little thin but oh boy was it good!!!!!We really enjoyed our dinner. Multiple staff came over to check to see if we needed anything and asked if there was anything they could do to improve the service. Hands down the best meal we had on the weekend, I wish I lived closer so we could go again!

Only run of the mill, nothing great about the place, but service was terrible. And the food was bland. Buffet really picked over but it was a Monday night. Try someplace else not worth the money sad to say.

This is one of two Chinese Restaurants in Gimli. Good location close to the lake and Harbour. You can order off the menu or take in their daily buffets. All the food is fresh and great tasting and portion sizes off menu are ample. Recently has new management and chef but food is still great.
