Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen - Gastonia

It wasn't Cheddar's, but we wanted to give it a try. I was very pleased with both the food and the service we received. We ordered the Santa Fe Spinach Dip as our appetizer, and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! (It disappeared so quickly that I didn't get any pictures.) My 6-year-old loved it too. For my meal, I had the Sirloin and Shrimp, along with a Caesar Salad and a loaded potato, all of which were quite good. My daughter had the Cajun Alfredo and said she really enjoyed it. Plus, the croissants made everything even better since we love bread! We will definitely add Cheddar's Gastonia to our list of favorite restaurants.

While the server was extremely pleasant.. the food was about disgusting. Cheese curds were swimming in oil. We literally poured oil off of the plate. The grilled white fish was just as greasy. The pot pie was burnt and very old, even coagulated. The salad wasn't too bad. Even the broccoli casserole was a gooey mess Yuck.. Also the air conditioner is broken and stuck on the freezing temperature. 40$ straight in the garbage.

We sat at the bar and the service was great! The drinks and food were top tier. The only issue was the chip and queso, the chips were old and stale.

I ordered the 8oz steak cooked medium rare with fried shrimp, while my wife chose the dijon chicken. The steak was a bit tough, and the chicken had a rubbery texture. Although both dishes had good flavor, they tasted as if the meat had been frozen and then thawed. I wasn't impressed with the rice either. On the positive side, our waitress was very friendly, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant. However, that wasn’t enough to compensate for the food, which just didn’t meet our expectations.

The food was excellent, and we were seated fairly quickly. However, there were some issues. There were crumbs at our table when we sat down. Our food arrived quickly and hot, but the fries I didn’t order were overcooked—hard and nearly burnt. I appreciate the gesture, but it didn't enhance our experience. One of the appetizers we ordered was supposed to come with a specific number of items, but we received fewer than expected. The bread they brought us was a little sparse as well, and I noticed another family that came in received what looked like a better portion. Overall, the food was great, and the service wasn’t terrible, but there is definitely room for improvement.
