Disappointing. Tried to ask about a food allergy and they didn't want to walk to the kitchen to find out. They forgot to place the order for someone's meal and didn't really seem to care, serving it 20 minutes later than everyone else's, waitress seemed annoyed when it wasn't something she could even eat due to the food allergies that she tried to ask about before hand. Frozen vegetables, blah shrimp and paper boats for the appetizer. If you are trying to be a classy restaurant then use plates for appetizers. Sorry if you have another dish. Don't waste your time here. We went to Whataburger afterwards to feed everyone.
We saw mostly high ratings and wanted seafood, so went for it. No signage for the restaurant, but finally figured out it was inside the yacht club on the 3rd floor. Apparently, it had just reopened, and it felt like another world- no masks on any of the staff. Felt for the staff, who has to use the general elevator to bring the food up to the restaurant. No craft beer, either. And no fresh local fish, which for a seafood place in a beach town is really disappointing. My dungeness crab came with no sides, so I ordered the mixed veggies. There was about 3 bites to it- very small serving, but good flavor. Nice wait staff, but overall, would not recommend. Found a place in Galveston to take care of our craving for fresh seafood.
First of all, COVID. Not a mask in the place, including staff. No craft beers. Not a one. The fish , when unnamed, is catfish. I ordered the grilled tuna. Decent portion, cooked rare, as requested. It was fine. The rice pilaf tasted like it was from a box and heavily flavored. The mixed vegetables were from a bag of frozen vegetable mix. [The owner responded below, claiming that I made false statements, as if I was trying to harm them. My statement on the rice may have been inaccurate, but was not intentionally false. I have corrected my assessment of the rice, stating that it tasted like it was from a box . Particularly interesting is the COVID challenge they mentioned, which is a challenge, but again, no one was wearing masks. The restaurant response supports my overall general assessment. My wife had the dungeness crab. Two clusters of legs and claws. Where was the body? It tasted fine though. Down by the ocean, going for seafood, we had hoped for something fresh and local. Nope. Very uninspired. The pilaf and mixed veggies we 're the only side options, and they were meh. The mains were okay. Overall, not worth the trip.
You have to know your way around to find this place , I guess you could call it a hidden gem. Nice atmosphere and great food. Service was spotty but not horrible. I had grilled shrimp and the husband had grilled tuna. Both plates were amazing except the veggies looked like they came out a bag and not fresh. No biggy for me since I don't eat most things good for me anyway. The shrimp were on the small side but the flavor of everything was just right! I will return in the future!
