Thank you to the Harold Park Hotel for always being there when I needed a place to go to get away from the house. Thank you to the staff who are always amazing - the owner Will and my fav specialsMonday - 2 for 1 mealsTuesday - 2 for 1 mealsWednesday - $10 pasta and Quiz nightFriday - Toss the BossSunday - 2 for 1 Sunday Roasts
The Harold is a local for me. Good food and always a special on during the week. They do a great 2 for 1 roast on a sunday. Big spacious pub with a great covered outdoor area. The live music on a sunday is always fun and intimate. Big tv screens for big sporting events.Upstairs can be hired for functions. The staff are friendly and service is good. A great atmosphere for families, kids, friends and couples. The only thing i wish for is a pooltable!!
Service was mixed- bar staff downright rude, floor staff charming! Food is good pub grub- nothing remarkable but solid. Stinked of cigarette smoke as smokers room door was always open- not great for kids. Better options in the area.
Visiting Sydney yesterday (Sat 30th August 2014) and realised at 2pm that we had not eaten all day as we'd been so busy.HPH is an old world Aussie corner pub that has had several renovations over time. The decor and furniture inside is kitsch classic ... tired in one respect but comfortable and welcoming. The views outside through the glass doors and windows speak "urban renewal" all over. Up until a few years ago, Harold Park was the inner city home of Pacing (trots horse racing). That's all been knocked down and bulldozed for multi-story modern apartments. A mixture of architectural function with nice light colours but with the potential to hide the great history of this suburb. The lunchtime "crowd" was small ... fewer than ten customers throughout the place. The lovely smiling welcome from the young bar-woman was refreshing after darting in from the drizzly rain outside. Our orders were taken and drinks supplied.Value = great. Under $65 for three large drinks, two mains and a sizeable dessert. My scotch fillet was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and my wife's lamb rump was marvellous. Both were accompanied with smooth, not-too-buttery mashed potatoes and lashings of al dente steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrots and beans). The garnish for each was several crispy fried onion rings and all accompanied by an aioli dipping bowl. The young male server was a chatty, reflective listener and eager to make sure we had everything at our disposal. My wife finished with a chocolate brownie dessert. It came with a dusting of powdered sugar over the cake, strawberries and a thickish chocolate topping. A large scoop of ice cream completed the dish. What a lovely place. I imagine it would be busier, much busier, in better weather. We certainly felt waited upon and the HPH staff (all three that we experienced) were up there with the best. The management of HPH seem to foster good practice. We appreciated our hour in Harold Park. We will return in the not too distant future.
