We arrived at 6PM for our Open Table reservation and we were told quite rudely by the guy who appeared to be in charge that we are no longer on Open Table and we have a private party here tonight, so you can 't dine here. I don 't remember hearing I 'm sorry or any other form of apology. I 've been dining at this place for at least 20 years for it 's a very good neighborhood restaurant and I was more than disappointed with how I was treated for we were taking my son and his new girl friend out to dinner, who were visiting from out of town. If Salerno 's is no longer on Open Table would it have been too much to expect a text or email to let me know that my reservation was no longer valid. Secondly, the rudeness of the person I interacted with was inexcusable. I doubt if I will ever go back there after this experience. Additionally, shame on Open Table for not keeping the website up to date if indeed Salerno 's had opted out of the program. Additionally, after we were turned away from Salerno 's, I was unable to make another Open Table reservation for we already had a reservation at a place from which we were turned away.
Food was middle of the road. Neither bad nor amazing. Service on the other hand was excellent.
Avoid using OpenTable to make a reservation at this restaurant, as they do not acknowledge it. They've been attempting to have their listing removed from OpenTable for over a year. Depending on who is at the host stand when you arrive, you might end up waiting up to an hour for your reserved table.
We always enjoy fantastic meals and excellent service at Salerno. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive to the needs of the diners, whether it’s refills or boxing up leftovers. The food is out of this world! We have a friend from New York who now lives in West Palm Beach, and he makes the 45-minute journey to dine with us whenever he can. He insists that the food tastes just like what his Italian mother used to make when he was a child—authentic and delicious.
