When we visited the restaurant on Saturday night, it was relatively quiet with only a few other couples there. The food was decent, but unfortunately the service was lacking. The waitstaff seemed uninterested, lazing around with their feet up on chairs, engrossed in their phones, and chatting loudly amongst themselves. We had to consistently flag down the sushi chef to get assistance from our server.
On Valentine's Day Friday, I tried to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but ultimately I could not. When we arrived, we learned that their online reservation system was not working. Even though those of us who had booked online could show proof of our reservations, we were still mixed in with walk-in customers. Many people ended up leaving because of the long wait times and disorganization. It was clear that the restaurant was understaffed and understocked. They seemed to be lacking a busperson or had called in someone last minute. Three tables next to each other all left at the same time, but the staff took too long to clean them, causing a backlog of customers waiting to be seated. The hosts did clean the tables eventually, but it was clear that they were not accustomed to handling a busy night. The bar was also poorly stocked, running out of many items including key ingredients for their signature drinks. The owner/manager appeared overwhelmed and was unable to effectively manage the chaos. The wine wall was nearly empty, with only a few bottles on display. The standard sushi rolls were disappointingly small. They had a special menu for the day but failed to provide prices, leaving customers in the dark. Our server was not even aware of the details of the menu and had to ask another server for help. Another server, an African American female on the other side of the restaurant, seemed more competent and put-together. Overall, it was a poorly managed experience and we will not be returning.
My wife and I arrived for our 7:30 dinner reservation only to wait in line until around 8:00 along with others who also had reservations for 7:30. Eventually, we were seated at a high top bar table in the bar area. We were told that no warm food would be available from the kitchen unless we ordered the Valentine's special, which we found unappealing. The server informed us that they were running behind and our order would take a long time. Unwilling to wait, we decided to leave and go to a fast food restaurant instead. Although we have enjoyed dining at Piranha Killer Sushi in the past, this particular evening was a complete disaster. They really missed the mark.
The restaurant was quite empty when we went on Saturday night, only other couples were there. the eating was quite decent, although the service was really terrible. the waiters sat around the restaurant with feet on chairs, played on their phones and spoke loudly. we had to constantly disturb the sushi cook when we needed our waiter.
