It's supposed to be one of the best in Melbourne which makes me wonder if there's any good ones at all here! The duck you pay for is reasonable, however they do NOT serve you the whole duck, more like only a third of it. The rest of it they take away and put only a LITTLE bit into the soup. The rest of the duck, I do not know what they do with it but you CANNOT take it home like other places. The staff are incredibly busy so getting service is difficult and you can be waiting a long time for hoi sin sauce or more cucumber or more pancakes or more tea (they never give you enough!). The cucumber were cut too chunky so it was awkward to eat, proper peking duck has julienne cucumber shreds. However, the food tasted nice but the price was too much. Wouldn't try duck again in Melbourne, it's just not the place for it. It's the same as buying a cooked roast duck from your local Chinese restaurant, and cutting it up yourself at home. For a great peking duck, either deep fry it whole until crispy or double roast, then shred it with two forks to get shreds, NOT slices.
Yes!! Peking duck, as good as it gets! Great value in this very casual restaurant. Best duck in Melbourne! Carved and served at your table.
This restaurant specialises in duck, so get ready to enjoy Chinese Crispy Duck. Book ahead ( it always seems bust) and try to book a round table if you have a group. It makes visiting this place lots of fun. They carve the duck at your table and it is delicious with the little pancakes and sauce provided. The second course was shredded duck and noodles - Quite good. Finally a duck soup which was very tasty. We didn't ask for a vegetable dish, which could have been a good addition to the meal, although no one left hungry. Two ducks for six people was ample. You can bring your own alcohol.
Went there with friends from Brisbane and they absolutely loved it. Crispy and not oily, and good taste. The pancakes were also light. Only wished they would give more spring onions and cucumbers. But all things considered, excellent !
Real surprising here. Duck Pancake was divine, noodles ok and soup very good. I will return as the foods great, experience exceptional and staff friendly
