Had a lovely dinner here on Friday night. The food was really good. The service was delightful. The owner sent over a bottle of beer for the wto of us and our waiter to share. We slammed the beer with him. It was a lot of fun. It's not the worlds best vietnamese restaurant, but I'd certainly go back.
It doesn't matter Van said, "Nothing bad, everything good, o.k. love, Van" .... that's the spirit.Nothing fancy, vintage building, high ceiling, high flight of stairs, downstairs or upstairs, vibrant with lots of conflicting elements of Asia all over the joint; Japanese stitchwork, Vietnamese print and anything Orient, "Everything good, ok". Foodwise, a taste of Thai; Pad Thai, Green Curry Chicken, platter with Sweet Chilli sauce, etc, they are pretty good. A taste of Vietnamese/Chinese in everything else, we've ordered a few. BYO and all that sharing food is about $30/head, great work. Nothing bad, everything good ......
The service is perfect, the owner is very warm and welcoming. The food is genuinely delicious, a perfect slice of Vietnam.
The service at Café 58 is outstanding. The restaurant is no frills with a nice group area upstairs. Ive been many times to the restaurant and recently with a group of 18 upstairs. Van the owner chose the dishes which were all excellent, and many of the non-locals were so taken by the quality they have vowed to return. I honestly cant say enough about this gem, I so look forward to returning after I visit to try another new dish or my many favourites.
