It has charm and atmosphere, and the food offers gastronomy experiences of high class, where you can, in the highest possible extent, make use of local products and advices. We were in good hands with the owner of the kroen Jakob Sullestad. Both he and his employees were very friendly and welcoming, almost as you felt that you were his special guests. Sønderho Kro is a great base for a stay, shorter or longer on Fanø.
We had booked a package: twice breakfast and twice dinner with different courses. Breakfast was served at the table. It was possible to order everything the heart desired: cold cuts, cheese, egg dishes, waffles, cereals, fruits and much more. A shame that we cannot eat so much in the morning : The dinner menu was worth a trip here! Coming with fish and meat, then new discoveries such as topinamburchips or fermented celery. matching wines for every walk. All in all, though Danish expensive, but a great experience!
Perfect place to eat a gourmet and local meal! Everything was perfect, the chef was very nice and the price was pretty low for this kind of meal (6 courses).
Oldfashioned charm meets gourmet food in a cozy atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. The sun rises late in November and so did we, after eating an exquisite dinner in the restaurant that feels like a museum. Our room overlooked the Wadden Sea and old harbor in Sonderho. The room was large and the huge bed very comfortable. Pricy but worth the splurge if you have something to celebrate!
I am so pleased that we had the opportunity to eat three dinners at this restaurant. Each meal and wine pairing was unique, and each was exceptional. We also had three breakfasts, which were substantive and very tasty. Excellent meats, eggs, and delicious bread, along with yogurt, muesli, and fruit. Coffee tea and juice as well. The service was also terrific, the best we had in Denmark. The atmosphere in the restaurant is charming. As is the local town. We stayed for three nights at the hotel, and the room was OK… but not great. I recognize that it is an old and historic property. But I found the decor quite dated, both the bedroom and the bathroom. I would only give 3.5 stars for the room.
