The Cider House - Fairfield

Our son, a chef, was home recently and chose The Cider House as our destination for dinner. My first impression of the little house was how small and cozy it appeared but there wasn't any handicap access and I couldn't have made it up the stairs without my guys. It was a Thursday evening about 7 and we got a table right away but they were steadily busy. The old guy and I ordered the Classic Cheeseburger and Son chose The Smokehouse. I don't think I've ever had such a delicious burger as that Classic. I think it was the beef that made the difference. Juicy and so flavorful! We will be returning.

Unimpressive ! Burger meat was ok. The bun fell apart...soggy and nasty. Touted as best burger in Iowa. Not! Filling Station in Yarmouth much better. Central Standard in Bettendorf definitely better. Service was fine. Won't return. Waste of money. $9 burger at best.

This quaint restaurant was something unique. I heard about this place from a coworker so decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. From house made hard cider to Iowa beef burgers, there is so much natural flavor to complement the aesthetic of the restaurant a small town feel with a lot to offer. The decorations on the inside were enjoyable to look at and the patio seating seemed very nice even though we did not get to experience it. Overall I was pleased and a bit surprised with this cider house although my only complaint and a reason to lose a star on the review is the relatively high prices for a small town restaurant. The food and drink are very good but the prices are simply a little too high.

Best Burger maybe I've ever had anywhere. (Even better than my mama used to make. I love this place love the food, love the people. The service is always spot ON, quick, and good natured. I go through different favorites Das Kraut Burger, with pineapple, jalapeno and cheese on top or Smoke House Burger, with a creamy blue cheese topping. The burgers are cooked to perfection and how YOU like it. The mixed drinks are fabulous and the REAL DEAL, especially the margaritas. No phony cocktail mixes. They have a solid selection of ciders, some locally brewed. If you want a gluten free bun, they have them, too. The sides and the appetizers are fabulous, pick something and try it you won't be disappointed I love the Low Country Shrimp and the fries are exceptional. It's fun to sit out on the side porch on a summer evening. Definitely the best Fairfield has to offer.

Amazing burgers and fries! They also have house-made cider that goes extremely well with the burgers.
