We're very fussy with our Chinese other dining), and tried a number of Chinese Restaurants in the area before stumbling upon this tiny gem of a...restaurant tucked away near Essendon Station. The food is sooo yummy. Too many good dishes to list Mongolian Beef, spicy salt calamari, beef cashews, dim sims, garlic prawns....and on it goes. The prices aren't the cheapest around, but they're still very affordable and the food it worth it. The wine by the glass is extremely affordable too.....and enjoyable. And the owners are the most friendly people you'll ever meet. We feel like one of the family. Since we've been eating in or having take away once or twice a fortnight for the last 4 years, it's not surprising that our 8 year old daughter is very at home here and we're all made to feel so welcome. They're not located where you would notice them just driving by. They're in a corner position next to the railway carpark entry. PLEASE don't get them confused with the Chinese take away that's opposite the bus stop at the station but in the same street) that one looks a bit like a laundry. Go to Cherry Blossom and you won't be disappointed!!
Went to this reasurant and the food was ok but not stunning. It is a small unimpressive restaurant that looks like it would not have dear prices. It is a bit misleading in this way. I thought they had slight delusions of grandure shown only...by their prices. A simple lamb dish my husband had was $20.50. It was the sort of dish that would have been more like $15 in many places. Not greatly impressed and would not go there again.
This was a favorite and has changed last? Eating is not so good and it was fantastic earlier. a real scandal! Maybe new owners?
We had heard good reports about the cherry blossom, so we decided to give him an attempt. the outside seems pretty dowdy, but it is bright and clean inside. I was a little doubtful about an Asian restaurant cherry blossoms, or sakura are with. japan the menu was mainly Chinese with some Malaysian and other influences. I count myself as a bit of an Asia-Maven, traveled in almost every country in asia east of india. I started with the hot and acidic suppe that was excellent. we had mongolian beef on a nozzle plate. we also had a vegetarian dish, buddha 's delight, that was a hot pot that contained bok choi, broccoli, Chinese mushrooms, baby mais, tofu and other Chinese greens in a tangy sauce. in all it was a delicious meal. the restaurant is byo, only wine, plus cork. the only point I would remember was that the sauces are rather a trifle sweet. price are reasonable, about $25 per head, which is about normal in these days.
Now, people, uncharted territory for me. that is not a great review. it's not all bad, but something has changed at this place. the whole roasted eating as really oily and pork in the diligent had very little boar in it. the fried rice was burned and stirring meat had only 5 pieces of meat in it. I don't know what to say, but maybe I caught them on a bad day.
