In the suburbs of Luxembourg, in a street with restaurants, you will find Chez Anna et Jean, a small family hotel. It has three floors, ten rooms, no elevator. The interior is dated, but charming, the rooms are simple, but clean, the host Anna is talkative, hospitable and absolutely worrying. The hotel is easy to reach by car and public transport, offers free parking, breakfast is simple, but more than sufficient. If you like to stay with locals and have little needs, but you do as with facilities (a supermarket, bus stop, place to eat) nearby, this is a good choice for you. If you prefer to stay in all-in hotels, with professional, serviceable, but remote staff and you prefer things like air conditioning, a coffee machine and a hairdryer in your room, then you should probably book another hotel.
We stayed here for two nights as part of a European motorcycle tour, the small car park to the back was very appreciated as to park the bikes somewhere. Easy to find, and a very warm welcome to the arrival of Anna, which was very helpful with information about local buses and where to go in the middle. They even copied admirably with our questions about language and customs in Luxembourg. As already mentioned, the fittings and decor are a little tired, but clean and comfortable, and to be honest, this is really reflected in the prices calculated. During the booking process we had asked for additional pillows that the European pancakes had experienced before, and they waited for us. Our room was on the second floor forward and there was plenty of space to spread our bike kit and bags. Yes, traffic could be heard, but when we close the windows, it was no problem, and when we left them open, my earplugs (which are a must on every foreign journey) did the trick. The continental breakfast set us up for the days of sightseeing, and what was a nice surprise was that the bread/kissen were different for our second morning. At the end of the day it was nice to sit on the roof terrace and plan what we wanted to do the next day. Locationally, it was about 30-40 minutes walk to the center. Anna had told us about local buses, but after a long day on the bikes it was nice to stretch our legs, and gave us the opportunity to walk into the eyeball bars and restaurants. We dined in the Italian next door on day 1, which was excellent, and in the Thai restaurant on the street on day 2, that was OK. We also found a nice bar near where we could sit outside, as the weather was incredibly warm while we were there. There were many restaurants on the walk in town, and many were very popular. If you are looking for a good price to stay well located and welcoming hotel, then this is for you. If you prefer the soulless most modern places, then this is not for you, so you should better go to the city and pay accordingly!
Chez Anna et Jean is a small family hotel in a suburb of Luxembourg. You can reach it from Luxembourg Gare by bus in 7 minutes or on foot in about half an hour. It has a nostalgic touch and you feel a bit like the Grandma, but everything was working well. My room was right under the roof (3rd floor). There is no elevator in the house so that a move with large luggage is a little uncomfortable. Breakfast is served to your table – rolls, croissant, honey, jam, cheese and cold meat in single portions, coffee or tea, juice. Anna is very nice and speaks German, English, French.... and maybe more. The hotel is highly recommended for a stay in Luxembourg.
The place is old, but clean and homey. One way to experience living in a Luxembourg house. The host is friendly. The breakfast is basic, still we had a happy full tummy. Just a few steps away from the bus stop.
