I really enjoyed that it was different from all those 'classic ' brunch places that serve the same food. I loved my mushroom burger, every bite was really tasteful and perfectly cooked. However, I would have preferred it served with something different than fries (a bit heavy for a 'breakfast ' . Coffee was great. Waiters were nice. Decoration made the place cozy. I will come back for sure!
Never had a bad experience and the bf and i have been there at least 10 times! Its our local brunch spot and its amazing. Perfect small menu of Western cafe food with Japanese and American twists. Standouts include the tatertot waffles, poutine, breakfast bowl and beetroot salad. Also their new strawberry milkshakes are creamy, bubbly heaven. The decor is sooo cute and the staff are always warm and friendly.
On this particular occasion we attended Erskine Villa as paying diners, however we have previously attended the restaurant as invited guests. . Erskineville was formerly owned by a gentleman named 'George Erskine ' and was best known for serving the community. Back then, the suburb and community was called Erskine Villa.
After realising we hadn’t expanded our weekend café choices over the past six months, we really felt a change was in order. Erskineville (suburb) had been on our ‘to visit’ list for some time and heard from friends the area has great cafes. This is my third review for a café in the area and fair to say my friends were not wrong in their assessment. As a venue, EV is pretty relaxing and if sitting down for lunch, try one of their craft beers. It was a little early for us given we arrived at 9am but maybe next time if visiting for lunch. The staff are very friendly and we were lucky to score a booth. Always great for the kids. The good:- The team- Coffee (mine was great but wife’s skim latte sent back as they burnt it)- Food (hearty and tasty and the 63 degree eggs are great) - Kids optionsThe bad:- Parking can be difficult (we were lucky that day)- Burnt skim latte. Replacement better, but not great- Food can take a while when busy – which it wasThe ugly:- Nothing to reportSummary:Will we be back? Yes. While there were a couple of things that could be better (coffee and food service time), these were minor compared to the overall experience. Solid effort. See you again.
I love this place. The food is original and interesting. Not your standard breakfast. Everything is fresh and service is always friendly. They do get busy so suggest going earlier to get a seat and avoid wait times. It has floor to ceiling windows and the interior is just a beautiful mix of pastels and coppers. So nice to be there on a sunny weekend. They do drinks too so it's really a good all rounder. Highly recommended.
