Before we could be served my father in-law asked in Italian if there were restrooms, the response from the guy behind the bar was completey rude, essentially he shouted at a half deaf senior citizen ending by telling him to go away. So we did. If someone shows up at your business with cash to spend you don't talk down to them. I don't know what this guys problem was but the way he acted was appallingly unprofessional and disrespectful. I walk by there all the time with my son to go to the playground, too bad he lost out on the opportunity to make a loyal customer. There are other places in town with great coffee, great food and great ice cream where the staff don't treat customers like dirt. In the future we'll just go there.
During two months we have visited Boungiorno Italia on almost regular basis as it was on our daily route. Mostly we were there to eat ice cream, which is good, though you can find better in Erlangen. The real added value to this place is that it also offers delicious daily menu and other Italian products like salami, prosciutto, ciabatta for takeaway. Family owned and operated, the place is simple but very good. For those that value Italian food definitely worth a visit.
While this bar serves delicions italian ham and ciabattas, the highlight for me is the ice cream. One of the best I've ever eaten, altough served only thoughout summer. Must try the dark choclote one!
