Good food, but nothing special. a little atmosphere and the personal does not seem to be enthusiastic.
We enjoyed the evening. all meal times were very well plated. sadly, the chicken gordon bleu was boiled over my wife (actually somewhat burned out) and without taste. my lamm curry potjie was very good, but it lacked curry aroma, so I just call it a lammpotjie. but the staff was friendly and helpful and the prices were not exaggerated.
You guys need to lift your game. This IS NOT FINE dining.
15-17.11.2020 During our stay at Dunkeld Country Equestrian Estate we had the pleasure of dining at their onsite restaurant 1883 Dullstroom twice. Once for dinner literally when they were closing, and the Sushi Chef kindly made us Sushi while he was busy packing up and secondly for breakfast. Both times we were served by Portia, such a friendly helpful lady with a smile, and a good sense of humour too. On our first night you realised how dead the place was, there were hardly any patrons, granted it was closing time but still there wasn't much movement Our sushi was amazing. We ordered some of freshest and tastiest Sushi ever ??? Pretty in Pink Trout Roses with diced prawns, seven spices and Japanese Mayo and Caviar Mother of Dragon, Trout, Avo, Tempura Prawn, Teriyaki sauce and Fiery Japanese Mayo ???? pricy but oh so worth it Then on our last morning their before checkout, we decided to eat here again, as we were going for a cooking class and with covid and all the restrictions alot of restaurants opening times were not updated, so we didn't want to risk going into town looking for an early spot only to find it closed. Luckily we stayed here, as our taste buds went on an absolute journey with a simple favourite I ordered my staple Bacon and Eggs (sunny side up.. cos hello... #yolkporn) on Toast with a mustard sauce, and my sister had the Trout Scrambled Eggs on toast, but the kicker was the Chilli sauce that Portia brought which just elevated our meal entirely along with their inhouse bread they make. Food was definitely a hit to start our day and our trek home. My cappuccino with cream certainly helped me to keep awake and focused Service from all staff were great, I'd happily stay and eat there again #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TFMDullstroom #TFM1883 #DelayedPost
