The Glasshouse, Eltham

This restaurant was just plain strange! The waitress seemed clueless, and they had already run out of half the menu by 1pm. The homemade lemonade tasted like liquid panadol, and the "Turkish" roll was actually a brioche bun. I will not be coming back here again!

The restaurant's ability to handle large crowds is extremely poor, as the staff seemed clueless about how to provide service to a large group. The management struggled with preparing and staffing for a booked event, resulting in a disappointing experience. I would not recommend this venue for private events based on my most recent experience.

I really want to support this restaurant, as it is local, a bit hidden, and has had several owners over the years. However, there is a lot of tough competition in the nearby area of Eltham, which has caused long-standing establishments like Volumes cafe to close down. After a disappointing $30 breakfast experience in the past, I decided to give this place another try for lunch. While the coffee was still excellent, the lunch was not well-presented and unappetizing. I did not even eat it, but was still charged for it. My recommendation to the owners is to step up their game if they want to succeed. For now, I will only be returning for coffee.

Friendly service and plenty of room for groups (including a pram . The food was quite nice, though a little pricey for what you get. Whilst there is indeed a treetop view, it also comes with a view of 7 Eleven, a car wash, and electricity pylons, so you don 't feel immersed in nature as you may expect. The music when we arrived was some kind of house dance which also didn 't suit the setting, but it switched to a more laid back acoustic sound half way through our meal. All in all it is a pleasant place for lunch but lacks any wow factor. (Side note: if you have a pram be sure to park in the lower car park to easily access the indoor section of the venue.
