El Muro - El Chaltén

We came here 2x for the lamb empanada. It is way bigger than the typical and has kinda a gravy in it. It is very good and made to order. Friends enjoyed a vegetarian type dish with rice.

We was in Chalten in april for some trekking. The hotel's staff recommended this place, so we went to "El muro". Is a small place with several tables, has a quiet, small-town atmosphere.They have a great menu with great variety of dishes.I recommend all the empanadas , especially the lamb ones. The stakes are very nice and trout is excellent too.There is only little things to complain is : the draft beer isn't is not so good compared to other Chalten places.

Even when we arrived really late, just when restaurant was about to close we get really tasty steak and perfect red wine to match it.

I don't know why this place isn't rated higher. It was very consistent in quality food. I came here on 4 separate occasions. The grilled vegetables, the steak, their grilled pizza, their beer and wine selection was fantastic and at a very reasonable price. Their location is at the end of the main strip. Worth the extra 5 minute walk. A family run establishment and they all seem pretty laid back yet proud of what they do. They have great WIFI and they accept credit cards no problem unlike many places in El Chalten. They don't ask for a tip but you can offer one on top of the bill. The decor is cool and they don't try too hard to give overwhelm you with service - you can just go and relax but their food alone is worth a trip. What I like most is that it wasn't overrun with tourists. I'm in the tourism, food and wine business and i cannot recommend this place more. It's chill and just great stop while in el Chalten given the other options.

A recommendation from our hotel. The chorizo sausage was outstanding. A steak came out underdone but the staff did not fuss and it was perfect when it came back to the table. For the quality this place is very well priced.
