The leith depot has many beautiful little vegan dishes to snack on, as well as a few main dishes perfect for a late brunch. all options are marked in the menu with a (wg). the complete vegan breakfast is a solid scream, but honestly offers nothing new or exciting about other vegan breakfasts found elsewhere in edinburgh. with mushrooms, sausages, cunning tofu and spinat this is quite their standard breakfast that will fill at least one hole. great if they are in the opposite or have a crater that needs healing. the kedgereee, however, is another story. this is the first time I saw vegan kedgeree on a menu, so I had to try it – and it was not disappointed. the use of cocos milk made this dish really creamy, with a generous help of cloby smoked tofu stirred through. a taste and I was in love. leith depot is an excellent option for a late brunch or bite to eat near the foot of the walk.
Great eating, more reasonable price, even though I had fallen after the question whether they had no milk.
Had the smoked tofu nori and kichererbsen kartoffel spinat curry. both were really delicious. friendly and cozy place. dog-friendly also.
Leith Depot are doing some great vegan food right now. I was in last week and shared the vegan platter with a friend. The platter had stuffed vine leaves, mixed olives, smoked tomato hummus, sweet potato wedges (they were more like fries), beer battered pickles, vegan cheese on toast, chimmi churri pesto, bourbon **** mary ketchup, olive oil and balsamic. It was also came with some extra bread and crackers. There's also a daily vegan special, some side dishes from the platter and a chocolate and avocado mousse. The only downside is both times I've been in I've had to wait to order because the kitchen has been busy. So it might be worth giving yourself a bit of extra time.
