Food and service always great. In a fab location for the Playhouse, book a table. I go frequently, hasn't been any negative things ever.
I ordered the house specialty meatballs with tagliatelle pasta. I had high expectations since it was listed as one of the specialties on the menu.
Very disappointing tbh. Some of the staff, not all, really quite abrupt and no one really made an effort to seat us upon arrival despite booking in advance. We were told simply to have table back for a certain time. The food was average at best. Nothing was particularly fresh or had much flavour. I noticed kitchen staff taking bags of supermarket salad to kitchen and the filled pasta I ordered was no better than that you would buy in a packet out a supermarket either. My main was lukewarm and not a very big portion or well presented. The waitress snatched my mums plate away as soon as she put her cutlery down after her main. Find this very off putting and all felt very rushed. The desserts on offer looked shop bought and nothing really had an authentic feel to it. Appreciate it was a Saturday evening prior to the theatre beginning and restaurant was busy but wouldn't be in a rush to go back have had much better meals in Edinburgh City centre. We booked for the location next to theatre and left feeling very disappointed and both had upset stomachs later in evening. Overall quite poor.
I’ve been regularly going here for over years. Food is of a very high quality, with a wide menu range. The have a wide selection of Italian wines. Staff are very friendly and are always welcoming. Highly recommend
