Been told a new Shanghai restaurant recently opened in Eastwood and gave it a go. Went there last Thursday with my wife after 7:15 pm. The restaurant was full and there were five people already waiting. l. Waited outside for up 10 minutes and a "Poker faced" waitress came out to take details and handed over the waiting ticket. At the same time another waitress organised to separate the dining tables to accommodate the five waiting patrons- into two groups split the tables to allow 2 /3 split. The restaurant is quite small in space . used up all space available -i.e crowded. While waiting took the privilege observing how food were served --- conclusion kitchen delivered dishes quite slow - that patrons have tow wait to be fed!. The dishes are oily shined - typical deep fried then quick wok approach.. health conscious eaters watch out!At the same time another five people turned up of whom took another 10 minutes for another waitress (looks like owner) came out to gathered details of these five patrons , 2-3 split, After 25 minutes, finally a table became available. Both myself and my wife thought the restaurant would do the same separate the table to accommodate two groups 2 -3 split.. Then came the waitress (who looks like one of the owner) and led the group of 3 which came 20 minutes than us to the vacant table. I felt be unfairly treated and challenged the waitress why she gave away the table to the late comer. Without blinking her eye she said they had booking ... I said what .. " you came out and hand over the waiting docket to them , how dare you lied ." The waitress did not respond just turned her back . Given the amateur and unfair treatment I decided to reported this and let all know about how unprofessional the restaurant is ".
I have visited this restaurant numerous times and the food always impresses me. The flavors are authentic without being too overwhelming, and the service is consistently good.
Bianca: So I’m currently obsessed with dan dan noodles and have been on the hunt for some of the best in Sydney. I don’t know how far I’ll get with this search because I can’t go beyond the amaze Dan Dan at 257 Home Kitchen. 257 Home Kitchen specialises in Shanghainese cuisine, the Sheng jian bao are repeat favourites. I cannot express just how much I love this restaurant! Definitely, one of the more modern restaurants on the Eastwood strip, competing with the recently refurbed Taste of Shanghai. I’ve probably visited 6 times in the space of 2 months.
