The place gets busy but turnover of tables are fast and they can quickly seat you. Very family friendly and has a good atmosphere. Thought that the yum cha offering was good and the ladies serving with their carts were all friendly, pleasant and smiling. We were here for 2 hours and enjoyed a variety of dishes. To my surprise the bill was not exorbitant but turned out a nice surprise that it was less that what we thought it would be, Will definitely come back and recommend to friends.
With so many similar restaurants to choose from nearby, here are my quick impressions from my last meal there:- quick service, handy location, authentic yum cha fare average pricing, decor a little old and dreary
I am impressed with the many varieties of dim sums to choose from which other restaurants can't boast of. The dim sums were steamy hot and deliciously fresh from the kitchens to the tables. The location of the restaurant is conveniently located across the road to the train station. Service was good and friendly.
The Tea was good! But that was all. We were excited to try the yum Cha on a Sunday lunch time. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated they ushered us upstairs. A smaller area with a single cart. We waited another 5 minutes for cutlery and another 5 for the cart to come over. We tried a few plates from the limited selected but were sadly disappointed. We were asked if we wanted other dishes but with No menus to order anything else it made it difficult. When it came time to pay it was more expensive than the upmarket yum Cha in China town.
I was wondering around Eastwood and it was a spontaneous decision that made us enter this restaurant which seemed small and dark from outside. But once we entered we noticed it was big and busy. Luckily we entered around 10:30am. When 11am came around the restaurant got packed and the waiting line formed outside. I would say it wasn't as costly as I thought it was going to be (although in Los Angeles, I would probably pay half of what I paid here, but for Sydney standard, I think the price was decent). We had all the usual dim sum dishes we usually have including sweet tofu (wish there was more ginger flavor in the syrup though). The dishes had balanced flavor and were not too salty at all. What was really nice about this place was I didn't get that usual thirst or weird lingering taste from MSG afterwards. So for me, this restaurant will be on my list of places to revisit. Looking forward to going back again!
