Customers can choose from three or five salad cups, along with options such as pita, hummus, skordalia (garlic sauce), beetroot, split pea, stuffed grape leaves, fried zucchini, and flower cups. For those who consume dairy, there are additional choices like spinach cake, grilled halloumi, and other cheese dishes. The skordalia was particularly tasty. The menu also indicates vegetarian and gluten-free options. The staff is knowledgeable about vegan orders and can provide helpful suggestions. The restaurant has a comprehensive drink menu and a spacious outdoor terrace with heating.
I have been dining at Hellenic for most of my life before I transitioned to veganism, and I have never been disappointed. While they originally only had labeled vegetarian items on their menu, they have recently expanded their vegan options, much to my delight. I appreciate that they offer more than just salads for vegans, such as the falafel sandwich. The North Fork area is lacking in vegan options, so I always enjoy dining at Hellenic where I have more than one choice. I highly recommend trying the vegan beets skordalia made with local beets and their famous homemade lemonade. Also, be sure to say hello to the owner George Giannaris, who has even written two books about the restaurant.
The restaurant offers incredibly fresh ingredients and breathtaking views. The menu definitely delivers on its claim that the turkey club sandwich is the best in the hemisphere. I even had to compete with my cat for the leftovers when I returned to Massachusetts.
We have always driven past this restaurant and finally decided to stop in on our way to the ferry. Without a doubt, this is one of the best Greek restaurants we have ever been to outside of Greece. The portions are generous, the service is excellent, and the outdoor seating area is spacious and relaxing. They are known for their lemonade, so we had to try it - it was incredibly refreshing, light, frothy, and not too sweet. We also ordered the Horiatiki Salata and the gyro platter, both of which were delicious. We can't wait to come back and try more dishes from their menu.
My family and I stopped at this restaurant on our way to the Orient Point ferry. We ordered Dolmades, Falafel, and their garlic sauce. Both the Dolmades and Falafel were the best I have ever had. I initially hesitated to order the Falafel as it is usually the only vegan option, but the owner Maria recommended it and I am so glad she did. You can truly taste the love put into the food, and it is evident that the owners care deeply about their restaurant. The place was clean and beautiful. I would give them 5 stars if I could, but Happy Cow only allows 4 stars for non-vegan businesses. I ordered baklava assuming it was vegan, but Maria informed me it contained butter. I appreciate her concern for my vegan lifestyle over making a profit. Although we were just passing through this time, we will definitely make a point to return and dine here again. If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
