Security checks are in place, very clean. Bathrooms and washing are cleaned regularly. For this trip I was in D-Gate, I don't think there were lounges here, but all the same waiting gates are convenient and easy to find. Especially love their water fountain that u shows how much plastic bottles you save by reusing or using a tumbler. Nice to be here
The famous Washington DC airport is actually located in Virginia, in the larger DC metro area. DC actually has three airports. Reagan National Airport, closer to downtown (but technically in Virginia), IAD and BWI Airport, is located about an hour from DC in Baltimore, MD. Dulles Airport has recently been massively renovated (about 5 years) and has since been an excellent showcase of chic architecture, sophisticated logistics and convenience. The long shuttles from the airport to the terminals have now been replaced by lean trains (even if for some reason the descending passengers are still forced to take the shuttles). The terminals are clean and aesthetically appealing. The signs are also plentiful and easy to follow. In terms of parking, the airport has both types. You can park nearby (free) and further away and take a shuttle. The airport is conveniently connected to the subway through the toll road Dulles (which is free for airport traffic) and usually moves quickly. They also build a subway line to the city that reaches almost the airport (now you have to take a 5-min shuttle to the subway). Many places to eat, shop and rest. Flying now a day is stressful, the airport helps to reduce it as much as possible.
Great place to start your holiday trip, but like any great airport it will be busy and cloged during weekends and holidays, but do not let that stop you from your trips. Get early parking there quickly full, traffic will be very slow on departures and arrival.
A nice airport if you're going through the security. Baggage claim and ticketing still see eerily 1960-ish, but once you go through the mile and train ride to the gates, you are hit with a pleasant surprise. Many dining options as well as shopping to get Snazzy souvenirs along with travel items. B-Terminal houses a children's playground next to restaurants such as Kicherenfil à and Wendys. Seat options are plentiful as long as the operation runs smoothly.
One of my favorite airports in USA. It has little advertising, minimal to none flashing LED signs. It is almost a quiet and peaceful walk to your gate and taking the train compared to standard airports. It is visually appealing as well. Easy entrance and exit to and from the airport.
