Jersey Mike's Subs - Downey

I really enjoy Jersey Mike's. The Apollo Way location seems to be more generous with the portions of their sandwiches. However, my experience at the Lakewood Blvd. location next to Planet Fitness was different. The sandwiches appeared smaller and they refused to honor a promotional coupon for free chips and a drink with purchase. They claimed the coupon was scanning as invalid, even though it was not expired and was specifically for that location.

I walked into the restaurant and there was only one worker there. He told me to wait a few minutes, which was no problem. I asked for a regular tuna sandwich. He finished serving another customer, then made my sandwich without changing his gloves. Another employee came in and started making my sandwich, being very precise with the ingredients. The first employee returned from the back without changing his gloves. I asked for onions, mayonnaise, tomatoes, and peppers. The service was slow with several customers waiting. Overall, the experience was unsatisfactory and I will not be returning.

The sandwiches are generously sized, with excellent service from friendly staff members.

I was disappointed with the sandwich I ordered as the bread tasted stale like cardboard. I will have to try a different place, maybe South Gate.
