China Diner Double Bay

Great place to go with close friends. Here you get delicious Asian style sharing plates, funky pop music and great waiting staff. taking into account the size of the portion, the taste and the atmosphere, this place deserves 5 stars. due (on special menu) and silk tofu (also on special menu) were absolutely delicious. definitiw return for more Umami experience!

I was really looking forward to experiencing the newly opened China Diner in Double Bay, however, was slightly disappointed which is a shame since there has been a lot of PR connected to it. Ambience, service and presentation of the food was lovely (and very photogenic which is always a in my books). I've given a 3 because the actual taste of the dishes was lacking. I'm a huge Massaman curry fan and was really looking forward to this dish but it fell flat for me. So too did the coconut vanilla sago dessert. On a positive note, the ocean trout sashimi was tasty and refreshing.

I do not recommend this restaurant. if they had the pleasure to eat in china doll, this restaurant is the Aldi version of china doll at the same price. the dimming sum and swarms taste reheated. the only thing that tasted good were the chicken spring rolls. otherwise everything was lacking in taste (as something was lacking). Unfortunately, because of the shortage of staff (I assume that the quality of the waiter is not especially for the price point there. overpriced for taste and portion size. go to china doll instead:

Good service, but much too much msg (monosodium glutamate) in their eating. disappointed.

Very subduing. I can see they tried to make this place good, but ultimately it was just not. the food temperature was somewhat cold, the menus a bit basic etc. it wasn't terrible, but it was far from good.
