We were welcomed by a rushed waitress and weren't given any explanation. Once we sat down, we realized we had no choice: plates are served one after the other in a succession of starters, pasta dishes and main course. Everything was homemade, nicely presented and delicious. Price was €25pp, and it included: water, wine, bread, series of starters, series of first courses, main course with sides, dessert, fruit, Mirto liquor and coffee. Absolutely satisfying, honest and overall simply very good. Before heading back down to Chia, we stopped and stared at the sky. Gorgeous view of the stars from up there. Might even catch a few shooting stars of you're lucky!
This place was indicated to us at the Torre Chia hotel. It is located at about 5km from Domus de Maria, in the mountains, and it is well worth the trip. Simply arriving there after driving along a narrow mountain road which finally opens on a grand vista is superb. We were a party of five, and all had the same set menu: delicious antipasti (Sardinian salumi, grilled vegetables, tomatoes and cheese); gnochetti sarde and raviolis stuffed with fresh cheese; porcheddu and salad; excellent peaches and cakes. We could not tell if the porcheddu had just been cooked before our arrival, or some time before. Good local red wine was also included. The cost per person was 25 euros. This is certainly a place to go to, and we will return.
