The Original Mexi-kan Kitchen - Derby

I really enjoyed having a late lunch at this restaurant. The chips were incredibly light and fresh, and the staff was very accommodating. I would definitely recommend it!

As I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted by the comforting aroma reminiscent of my mom's cooking. The spices in all the dishes are perfectly balanced. The staff members are clean, respectful, and attentive. My one suggestion would be to elevate the salsas a bit further, and then this place would be absolutely perfect!

My brother and I came here for lunch. Neither of us had been here previously so we took our time looking over the menu and asking questions of the employee at the counter. He was very nice and even suggested a couple menu items that we should try. I ordered their puffy tacos which could be ordered two for $7. I chose one beef and one with carnitas. I liked the consistency of the taco shell and also that it held together without losing the stuffing. Both meats were good, but the tacos needed some additional seasoning or spices. Fortunately, they have a salsa bar with several choices. My brothers jumbo tostada meal looked good, but was a challenge to eat in the foam containers that the food was served in.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, and the cleanliness was impressive, even in the back kitchen. As a service provider in a specific industry, I visit many Mexican restaurants, but I wouldn't eat at most of them. However, this place and its owner are truly exceptional. He made me tacos and chips one day while I was working, and I would happily eat there any time of day. Great job, team, for being one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve had the pleasure of visiting in a long time!

My husband and I absolutely love this place. We visit at least twice a week (sometimes more if we’re feeling up to it). We only live 10min away so no big deal for us. I always always always get the fish tacos on soft flour shell. These tacos are the best tacos I’ve ever tasted from anywhere and I get brag enough about them. My husband always gets the beef burrito. The flavor of the burrito overall is really good and I would give it a 10. I personally just think it’s the beef is a bit dry. But hey, that’s what sauce is for and he doesn’t think so and he’s eating it so that’s all that matters. I would still choose the burrito from here over any other Mexican facility. . I got a picture of my fish tacos (well I’ve already bitten into one of them) but o couldn’t get a pic of the burrito my husband had. Definitely 10/10 recommended. Never long wait ones and food is always very fresh and delicioso ?!!
