The pool can be used until midnight, which is a great experience. We also enjoyed the breakfast and there is a shop with lots of souvenirs, food and drinks.
They have done some renovations since the last visit. The ice machine was broken, but it was 130 degrees outside... The air conditioning worked, the pool was open, the people there are very nice, the views are awesome.
Booked the rooms months ago. Turned up today to find the restaurant is shut and only limited food options at the bar and no draft beer. It shuts at 8. The food consists of reheated pasta or a sandwich. The nearest other options are over 20 miles away. We 've driven 8 hours to get here already. The air con is not up to scratch at all and the cold water is too hot to shower in. This is more like camping with a dodgy air conditioner hooked up to your car and completely unacceptable. We stayed in the Sahara 2 years ago. It was over 100f. The water was cold, the air conditioning worked and there were decent food options. It seems Stovepipe Wells cannot achieve the standard of a small hotel in Morocco on the edge of the Sahara.
Hotel in the heart of Death Valley, one of the most expensive of our road trip! Small fridge inside and coffee. Opposite the general store. We didn't try the restaurant but got good feedback. The swimming pool was open but we didn't take advantage of it. Very old and small room. Rocking chair in front of reception with wood fire. Quite nice but lots of grasshoppers!
In the depths of Death Valley, somewhere for drinks, souvenirs, and rest rooms.
