Atmosphere and decor the restaurant was well done giving a feel of homeliness with a nice modern touch. Food was overall well done and quite well priced overall a great range of flavours. Few minor issues like duck breast slightly over cooked and roasted pumpkin could have been more palatable in bite sizes. The service here was excellent waiters and waitresses were always attentive and responsive to requests.
Visited again July 2018: Very tasty seafood dishes, very flavoursome however the only let down was the lamb schwarma which was too dry. Pretty decent portions. Service was sparse but very friendly once we got their attention. ———— June 2017 visit: Fantastic value on the 50% food on dimmi and quality of food and presentation greatly exceeded our expectations. Very well seasoned and meats are of high quality and tender. Who knew modern Lebanese food was so refined and tasty! Loved their cured salmon, squid, octopus, beef cheek and lamb shawarma dishes, and their knafeh was also lovely. Lebanese wine was pretty good too! Service was very friendly, laid back but also knowledgable about the wine/food suitability. Keep up the good work and Will definitely be back!
Our dinner at Embers was a marvelous riot of flavours and textures. Loved: fried cauliflower salad (trust me); mung bean falafel (unique taste and softer than a normal falafel); harissa chicken with cous cous (super moist and tender, with lots of flavour); carob beef with freekeh (rich hearty winter dish, beautifully paired with the chewy freekeh); chargrilled squid (the mixed herbs, peaches and orange salad balanced the slight bitterness of the char); rosewater panna cotta. Also good: baked haloumi in honey (the cheese was softer, less rubbery); lamb shawarma (tender but a bit dry in some parts); pumpkin with goats cheese and hazelnuts (classic flavours executed well); chocolate chai pudding (very rich); knafeh (a bit too runny but would suit those who prefer less sweeter stuff). Service was excellent on the Sunday night we visited with the staff constantly checking if we needed anything (but not in an intrusive manner). The only minor downside was the smell of oil/fried food that wafted through the restaurant and stuck on our clothes. Small price to pay though. Would highly recommend Embers - we've already marked it for a return visit.
This is not your average Lebanese cuisine, Embers takes it's traditional flavours and puts a modern twist to their dishes. We ordered the below: -Pumpkin/hommus dip with bread, the bread was nice and crunchy (just imagine a lighter, crispier version of the fried crispy lebanese bread but without deep frying). -Deconstructed mung beans, this dish looked very pretty & tasted amazing. It had a nice crunch & found it interesting to use mung beans as a new twist. The labne didn't really have a smoked flavour however found all the components of the dish complimented eachother. -Squid - I do not think this dish resembled what was on the menu, it mentioned there was baba ganoush & sujuc but didn't see any of this on the dish. This was my least favourite dish, although the squid was cooked well it was covered in a almost pesto like sauce/paste which was a bit overpowering. -Sharwarma spiced polenta chips - this had a nice crunch & the tahini aioli was nice however I do... read more
